Carlos Ezquerra Dredd badge by Planet Replicas

Carlos Ezquerra is the man who designed the actual look of Judge Dredd for 2000 AD and from his design many artists have added their own flourishes to the Dredd uniform over the years. I'm sure that you may already have a badge or two from Planet Replicas and who knows, even a personalised one, as you just can't help but need that one in your life.

Now the time has come for King Carlos to have his badge immortalised from the pages of the Prog and my Grud, Dan at Planet Replicas has come up with the goods again and then some!

This badge looks absolutely stunning and the amount of detail on it, with the sharp lines and finish just shows it off in all its glory. If you think the front looks pretty special, then wait till you see the back. I particularly like the raised Carlos signature, a lovely little touch.

If you want one of these, then follow the link below to Planet Replicas and buy one now, as who knows, they may have to do a second run of them.

Now for a selection of photos for you to enjoy. Don't forget, click on the first one to start a slideshow!

Another excellent addition to Planet Replicas Artists Collection, I'm sure you'll agree!

I wonder who's badge will be replicated next!?!

The Mysterious Dredd Vs Alien Statue!

Around 2008 First 4 Figures revealed this Dredd Vs Alien statue, which lit up and then it vanished without all trace. I did email them a while later and they mentioned something about distribution (which it says on the images is by Sideshow Collectibles) but I honestly cant remember the finer details. Basically, it never hit the streets, even with all the work that the company put into it.

I'm posting this statue up to show people what might have been and in the vain hope that the company can actually get these out to the fans, that's if they actually made the 1000 pieces.

We've had a Dredd Alien crossover before and there's a new one heading our way soon, from Dark Horse, 2000 AD and IDW. So what better time to try and find out what went wrong and remedy it.

This all came from the Judge Dredd Vs Aliens - Incubus story by John Wagner & Andy Diggle, with superb art by Henry Flint. The cover from the graphic novel is shown below, alongside the image which was used as the base for the statue, which was the opening image inside that very graphic novel.

All I have are the following pictures and the one bit of info taken from the First 4 Figures site.

Remember to click on the picture to enlarge them!

Let us hope that with a bit of pushing by fans that this will actually become a reality!

Lawmaster & Dredd Previews Exclusive from Mezco

We've already seen the highly detailed Dredd figures that Mezco have brought us and now it's turn for the Lawmaster. This is Dredd's mode of rapid transport around the city and Cursed Earth. Heavily armoured and with an amazing array of deadly firepower, this is the beast on the streets.

This version is the modern version from the pages of 2000 AD and this is Ben Willsher's version of that, as everyone has a slightly different take on the design. I must say congratulations to Mezco for including one of the actual Dredd artists on the build of the bike and also the figure.

I received my box of goodness from my local comic shop in town, The Grinning Demon and rushed home to play with it, like you do.

Sadly when I got home I found that the lights and sounds didn't work but as you will see, further down the blog, there's another video showing the working one that arrived one week later.

Now for the obligatory picture show and remember to click on the first one to enlarge it and then just scroll through them for the details. The first lot are of the boxes, which you will have seen in the first video and how the contents are packed.

Now for the video of the lights and sounds in action.

Here are the close up pics of the bike and I haven't added any with the lights on, as you see them to good effect in the video.!

And here's where the batteries go!

I'm sure you will agree that Mezco have done an awesome job on this and obviously Dredd and it's a good job Ben was on board for the design work. The added wear and tear all over the bike really add to the authentic look to it as well.
I've waited all my life for a Lawmaster toy from the pages of 2000 AD and this has hit the sweet spot, as it seems that we have finally hit a golden age in merchandise, with a few dedicated companies knowing what the fans want.
